  • Delivering Suicide Prevention

    We recently had the pleasure of delivering Conversations 4 Life early suicide prevention training to the team at Rio Tinto’s Yarwun site. This program moves the dial from suicide crisis to very early suicide prevention. Participants develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to be READY, WILLING, and ABLE to have early conversations with people who are becoming vulnerable, experiencing distress or starting to withdraw.

  • Gladstone Mindcare Qld Mental Health Achievement Awards Finalist

    Gladstone Mindcare was selected as one of three finalists in the State at the Queensland Mental Health Commission's Queensland Mental Health Achievement Awards in the small not for profit category. Our Coordinator, Dani and Board Director, Michelle travelled to Brisbane for the awards event and while we didn't secure the win, this recognition at a State-wide level highlights the important work we do to support mental health in the Gladstone community.

  • Monthly Parent Group

    We are excited to welcome Sam from Mindful Sands Counselling to the Gladstone Mindcare hub. Sam will be delivering a small parent group at a small fee once a month, starting in June. For June, it will be Strengthening Our Kids Mental Health. Sam will discuss strategies, provide guidance, tools and support to you as the carer/parent and explore how to support your child, while being in a safe and non-judgemental environment.

    You asked and we delivered. Commencing Tuesday, 28 February 2023 our Brickin' It lego group will commence as an additional social connection activity at Gladstone Mindcare. It will be held every Tuesday from 10am to 12noon and is free. Social connection is important for improving or maintaining your mental health and wellbeing so if you love lego and want to connect with others who share your interest, come along!

    Youth Insearch is Australia’s leading peer-led youth intervention organisation, dedicated to supporting at-risk youth. Since 1985, Youth Insearch has supported 32,000 at-risk youth to overcome trauma and mental health issues, and protect them against suicide, drug and alcohol abuse, and delinquency.

  • New Co-Locating Partner

    This week we welcome our new co-locating partner - Centre for Play Therapy. Centre for Play Therapy provides child-centred counselling services to children and young people between the ages of 2-12 years and is committed to 'helping children heal through play'.     We are excited to announce that refurbishment works have commenced to fit out the Gladstone Mindcare Hub in preparation to open to the Gladstone community.  Following community consultation and planning, these works will see the building transform into a safe and inclusive community centre with space for social connection and health promotion activities, installation of Disability accessible amenities and consult rooms and offices.

    Our first Working Bee was held on Saturday, 10 October 2020 with 31 people coming to volunteer their time, effort and energy.  It was a wonderful, family oriented day where we worked together to make the Gladstone Mindcare Hub beautiful. We are so very grateful for the help and support and look forward to continuing to work together to improve the mental health and wellbeing of the Gladstone community.
